Who am I?

I am a pair of beautiful earrings handcrafted in Rwanda.

Who crafted me?

I was crafted by the widows of the 1994 genocide. They say that am very essential to them because I have brightened their livelihoods. They come together to make me and earn a living. and they also find a platform to share their experiences, which has enabled them overcome their trauma, and get back a normal life.

How was I crafted?

I am made out of sisal, which is first let to dry forming creamish/white colour. The dried sisal is then dipped into different colours, yellow, white, green, etc.
Using a needle and thread (sisal), it is woven into different products, baskets, balls, wall
mats and many other items and images of decoration, earrings necklaces to mention but a few. The products are all made by women using their hands and creative minds.
I am one of their newest creations and hope I will bring even more joy to you, and when you wear me, might tell what I heard when I was being made
